Qatar Airlines Business Class (Q Suite)
A350-1000 DOH-JFK
After an amazing 3 weeks in Japan, I flew to Vietnam and Thailand for 2 weeks of exploration and fun in the water. I flew JAL from NRT-HAN for 20k AA miles (economy) and then a combo of Vietnam Airlines and Bangkok Airways from HAN-BKK-KBV for under $100. Nothing special to write about those flights but happy with the great value.
The highlight of this part of the trip (in the sky) was finally getting to try Q-Suites. I booked HKT-DOH-JFK in cash for $2400 which I think is very average but I at least earned 5x with my CSR plus AA miles for the flight. HKT-DOH was originally a 787 with super diamond but got swapped to a 777 with the mini pods. Kinda Qatar'd? But i didn't really care for the short flight. DOH-JFK was the A350-1000 which is 100% equipped with the Q Suite fleetwide.
So what did I think about the Q Suite? The hard product 100% lives up to the hype. It's comfortable, private, beautiful, modern, etc etc etc everything you would expect. Bedding was good, the 14 hours flew by like it was nothing. It's up there among my favorite business class seats (i need to rank them some day lol).
Service was the questionable part. One of the crew members forgot my order constantly (had to ask for a drink 3 times) and told me there was no ice cream left. Yet another crew member brought me ice cream 15 mins later. First world problems I know…but he was just lazy. Luckily when he was on break the relief crew was much better. And the food I tried was all delicious. To my surprise breakfast stole the show after take-off.
I'll include some favorites from Vietnam (Hanoi) and Thiland (Krabi) if you make it that way for a vacation. Thailand is definitely a good place to find lower fares (as you'll see in a future post of mine). Thanks for all the feedback on my posts and hope these continue to help inspire trips!
